Teardown experts IHS have released the final details behind their extensive analysis of the parts and pieces inside Amazon's Kindle Fire. And the final cost? Amazon eats up $185.60 for the raw materials within its Kindle Fire, increasing to $201.70 once manufacturing service expenses are added into the mix.
If this number sounds familiar, it's because it is: IHS released a preliminary estimate of the Kindle Fire's teardown costs in late September, and the research firm overshot the mark a slight bit with a total materials cost estimate of $191.65 and a final total of $209.63.
It might seem like we're quibbling over pennies, but the figures are nevertheless important. ....................
