Q1. Can I get Kin­dle Fire out­side USA?

A. Ama­zon is not going to ship Kin­dle Fire out­side USA. How­ev­er, you can still buy one using your for­eign cred­it card or gift bal­ance, but your ship­ping address must be in the USA – may be some some friends or fam­i­ly mem­ber who can later send you by mail. The other way to use some US mail for­ward­ing ser­vice. But you need to remem­ber that a lot of ser­vices like movies and MP3 down­loads, mag­a­zine sub­scrip­tions etc will not work out­side USA due to geo­graph­ic restric­tions on dis­tri­b­u­tion. Ama­zon restricts such dis­tri­b­u­tion either by iden­ti­fy­ing IP address or by not allow­ing pur­chase all those ser­vices with for­eign cred­it cards. How­ev­er, You would be able to  down­load ebooks from any­where in the world.

Q2. Can I use thumb drive via the USB port of Kin­dle Fire?

A. No, you can't. Kin­dle Fire's USB port is USB 2.0 or micro-B con­nec­tor. It means you would not be able to plug in a thumb drive. Even if buy a miniUSB 5 pin male adapter to use USB thumb drive it will not work since p Kin­dle Fire does not have a USB host capa­bil­i­ty. How­ev­er, you can plug theUSB cord into your com­put­er and load files like movies, music, ebooks etc. onto the Fire.

A. No, p Kin­dle Fire doesn't have SD card slot. It comes with 8GB in-built stor­age. How­ev­er, you also get 5GB cloud stor­age on Ama­zon serv­er plus 5GB per­son­al stor­age as a Kin­dle device. Any­thing you buy from ama­zon (like movie, songs etc) will not eat up your 5GB cloud stor­age. You can upload any­thing you want in cloud stor­age, and down­load it as well.

A. You have remem­ber that p Kin­dle Fire doesn't have 3G capa­bil­i­ty. You can con­nect to inter­net via wifi. Ama­zon has added their cus­tom web brows­er – Ama­zon Silk – for web brows­ing. Q7. Can I load apps on Kin­dle Fire from Google Android mar­ket? 
A. No, you can't. Ama­zon has it's own app­store. And the num­ber of apps grow­ing rapid­ly in the store. All major app builders are releas­ing apps for ama­zon store. The store has already many ebooks, pro­duc­tiv­i­ty, util­i­ty, and games app. The store has pop­u­lar angry birds app, many PDF read­ers, word pro­cess­ing apps etc.

 

Q8. Can I read ePub books on Kin­dle Fire?

A. Native­ly Ama­zon doesn't sup­port ePub in any of its Kin­dle devices. In fact, you can't read any ePub books on e-ink Kin­dle devices. On Ama­zon app store there are some eread­ing apps like aldiko that can read ePub with­out con­ver­sion. How­ev­er, it's not yet clear whether Adobe Dig­i­tal Edi­tion will be sup­port­ed on such apps so that you can read DRMed ePub books on Kin­dle Fire.
