E-book recommendations from IndieReader.com

You know how there are literally a gazillion self-published e-books out there just begging for you to check them out? Never fear, HEA and IndieReader.com are here to help. IndieReader.com shares some recommendations here for indie-published e-books that its reviewers have declared pretty great.

One Pink Line by Dina Silver ($2.99)

One Pink Line is a beautifully written and well-crafted story about Sydney, a senior in college, who gets pregnant by someone other than the love of her life but decides to keep her baby. Woven into Sydney's story is the story of her daughter, Grace, who wants to meet her biological father.

First-time author Dina Silver jumps right into Sydney's story beginning in college, but then flashes back to her last year of high school to highlight how Sydney meets the love of her life. Silver then begins to weave in Grace's story and then both stories weave in and out of one another. The skillful transitioning and Silver's clear, concise writing make for an engrossing read, as two stories unfold from two viewpoints and generations.

One Pink Line is a delightful read, perfect for young adults and adults alike.

Winter Haven by Mell McKenzie ($1)

Devon Lecusken returns to his hometown of Winter Haven with a bag full of, well, baggage, and its residents are not ready to bring on the welcome home brigade just yet. While news of Devon's return spreads like a bad rash, maybe love has the ability to save him. Tyler Martin is a young and naïve girl-child with little idea about love and its thorny underbelly. After Devon saves a drowning Tyler, the two quickly fall into a cascade of immature love. Both have no idea what they want out of life or love.

Equally confused is troubled Devon who is followed by the tragic events associated with his past in Winter Haven. Tyler feels she is the only one in the town who really knows Devon and goes on a love rampage to try to convince Winter Haven that Devon deserves another chance.

Author Mell McKenzie writes with the heart of a poet. You will get lost in the language of this disturbing coming-of-age love story.

Her Dear and Loving Husband by Meredith Allard (99 cents)

Her Dear and Loving Husband is an alluring paranormal romance about Sarah Alexander, who has relocated from Los Angeles to Salem, Mass., where she discovers James Wentworth and the secrets from both his and her past that will free her from the visions that plague her sleep.

Author Meredith Allard constructs an effective plot, weaving in and out of past and present lives, allowing words and phrases to haunt you until the whole mystery behind the love story is revealed. Allard's characters are also well-rounded, revealing rich aspects of joy, anguish, compassion, fear and humor.

Despite some incongruities and redundancies in word choice, Her Dear and Loving Husband is a story that successfully entwines mysterious elements of the paranormal with rediscovering a lost romance that will satisfy the romantic at heart.
